Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai finds himself in a contentious situation with Yeke Kolubah, the representative for Montserrado County District Number 10. Yeke, who was once regarded as a hero among Boakai and UP supporters for frequently insulting former President George Weah, has now redirected his relentless attacks from former President George Weah towards the 79-year-old Boakai and his family.

This begs the question – what moral lesson is President Boakai learning from Yeke’s sudden onslaught? It is worth noting that Yeke’s unruly behavior against former President George Weah was practically applauded by Unity Party supporters. Despite being in opposition at the time, Boakai did not utilize his wisdom to guide Yeke, who was a supporter, towards a more respectful approach. During the recent elections that brought Boakai and UP to power, Yeke even used his own funds to campaign for Boakai’s victory, resorting to profanity against President Weah and his family.

However, the tables have now turned. Representative Yeke has turned against his own mentor, Joseph Boakai. In a video released on Sunday, Yeke stooped to a new low with insults directed at President Boakai, his wife, and his children. Yeke claimed that his reaction was prompted by an embarrassing video on social media against him, which he alleges President Boakai has a hand in.

While Boakai and his supporters once applauded Yeke’s actions against President Weah, they now brand him as an unruly lawmaker for daring to insult a sitting president. It appears that they have conveniently forgotten that just three months ago, Yeke used the Boakai and UP platforms to degrade Weah and his family.

This change in dynamics has led some Weah supporters to question Boakai’s leadership, speculating that he may have even endorsed Yeke’s unruly behavior against Weah and Alexander Cummings.

The once-celebrated hero of Boakai has now turned his weapons on President Joe Boakai, imparting a hard moral lesson to the new Liberian leader.

As the political war between Boakai and Yeke intensifies, it remains to be seen how President Boakai will navigate this challenging situation and what further lessons he will glean from it.
