Rep. Kolubah

Monrovia – A threat has been made on the life of lawmaker Yekeh Kolubah by Deputy Internal Affairs Minister, Mark Jabarteh. The threat was captured in a recorded conversation where Minister Jabarteh warned Hon. Yekeh Kolubah about his continuous insults towards the President. Minister Jabarteh, who claimed to have spent two years in Russia, stated that if the insults continue, they will bring mercenaries to kill him. The lawmaker responded to the threat by repeatedly saying, “Yes Sir, Mr. Minister,” indicating a submissive tone.

This threatening incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of Hon. Yekeh Kolubah, as well as the role of the Deputy Minister in defending President Joseph Boakai. It is alarming that the Liberian Government has remained silent about the actions of this junior government official.

Given the seriousness of the threat, it is imperative that the Liberian Government takes immediate action to address this matter. The safety and security of lawmakers should be a top priority, and any form of intimidation or threats should not be tolerated in a democratic society. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to this disturbing incident.
