Monrovia – In response to the resignation letter of former Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu Jr., H.E. George Manneh Weah, the political leader of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), expressed his gratitude for Morlu’s service to the party and addressed the issues raised in the letter.

In his letter, Morlu cited disagreements with Weah during his chairmanship and highlighted the importance of respecting partisans, leaders, and the foundational principles of the CDC. Weah acknowledged these differences and emphasized that the CDC, as a grassroot political institution, is composed of individuals with diverse views, making clashes inevitable. However, he emphasized that these divergent perspectives should strengthen their commitment to serving the interests of the Liberian people.

Weah also commended Morlu for his leadership and long-standing service to the CDC. He emphasized the party’s engagement on an international level, maintaining strong relationships and respect with various actors and institutions of the international community. Weah stressed that this engagement is crucial for the party’s vitality, progress, and strength, and it is a commitment they will continue to uphold.

As the CDC seeks to reset and reinvigorate itself, Weah called upon all members to remember the party’s founding principle: service to the people of Liberia. He emphasized that the CDC remains the supreme instrument for fostering this goal and urged cooperation among party members.

The response from H.E. George Manneh Weah to Mulbah K. Morlu Jr.’s resignation letter reflects the ongoing evolution and growth of the CDC as a political institution. With a focus on unity, respect, and the interests of the Liberian people, the party aims to move forward with renewed energy and purpose under new leadership.
