Montserrado County District Number 10 lawmaker Yeke Kolubah has expressed his concerns over President Joe Boakai’s approach to governance, stating that it is in stark contrast to what he had anticipated during the campaign and voting process.

Kolubah, speaking to newsmen in Monrovia recently, explained that he had believed Boakai to be a peacemaker and reconciler when he campaigned for him. However, since assuming the presidency, Boakai’s actions have been perceived as hasty and lacking careful consideration.

One of the issues raised by Kolubah is Boakai’s decision to deny former President George Weah, the immediate past president of Liberia, the use of the VIP Lounge. Kolubah deems this move as a significant mistake, emphasizing that the VIP Lounge is intended for use by VIPs, including former presidents of the state. By excluding George Weah, the man who under whose administration the structure was built from accessing the lounge, Boakai has drawn criticism for disregarding the protocols traditionally extended to former presidents.

Furthermore, Kolubah criticized Boakai for resorting to using police force to suppress university students who were advocating for a genuine cause.

The lawmaker suggested that, as an elder statesman, Boakai should have utilized his wisdom and experience to address the concerns of the students rather than ordering the police to resort to violence. Kolubah urged President Boakai to approach such situations with caution, considering the fragility and division within the state.

These concerns raised by District 10 lawmaker Yeke Kolubah highlight the need for President Boakai to carefully consider his actions and decisions as he leads the country.

It is essential for Boakai to fulfill the expectations of the people who placed their trust in him during the election, and to prioritize dialogue and peaceful resolution in handling issues of national importance.
