Controversy Surrounds Liberia Immigration Service’s Unconventional Training Requirements

Monrovia – The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has ignited significant controversy following reports from potential recruits regarding unusual requirements for trainees. Numerous individuals preparing to embark on their training journey reported that they were instructed to bring not only typical school supplies, such as copybooks and pens, but also unexpected items like cutlasses and various household utensils.

As recruits departed for training yesterday, many were seen carrying large cutlasses and bulky bags filled with an array of items. While the public affairs officer for the LIS was unavailable for comment, a senior source within the organization confirmed the requirements. This source, who wished to remain anonymous, acknowledged that recruits were indeed asked to bring cutlasses and notebooks but stated that cooking utensils were not part of the specifications.

The source defended the decision to include cutlasses as a requirement, citing a lack of financial resources. However, they did not provide further details regarding the rationale behind this unusual request.

The incident has raised eyebrows among the public and sparked discussions about the training protocols and priorities of the LIS. As recruitment and training practices come under scrutiny, many are left wondering about the implications of such requirements for the future of Liberia’s immigration and border control services.
