Monrovia – In a significant step towards justice, the Liberian Senate is being urged by human rights activist Adama K. Dempster to concur with the House of Representatives on the endorsement of the historic RESOLUTION for the Establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia. This decision is crucial for the healing and reconciliation process in the country.

Furthermore, he urged President Boakia to issue the Executive Order expediting the establishment of the court without any further delay. The implementation of this court is of utmost importance to ensure accountability for the atrocities committed during the country’s dark past.

He stated that the recent visit of Ambassador Beth Van Schaack to Liberia has proven instrumental in raising hope for victims, survivors, and all Liberians in their pursuit of justice. Her presence has shed light on the urgency to take action and address the grievances of those who have suffered.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to all the justice campaigners, actors of justice, victims, and survivors both at home and abroad. Their tireless efforts have played a significant role in mobilizing support for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

“As the nation moves forward, it is imperative that justice prevails, ensuring the restoration of hope and the elevation of Liberia’s international standing. This long-awaited step towards accountability will create a foundation for a more just and inclusive society, fostering healing and reconciliation among all its citizens.”
